🏔️ Nanda Devi – Goddess of the Mountains
Nanda Devi, standing at 7,816 m (25,643 ft), is the second-highest mountain in India. Located in Uttarakhand, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a sacred symbol of protection and strength.
📜 History & Significance
- First climbed in 1936 by British mountaineers Eric Shipton and H.W. Tilman.
- The Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve was established to protect its unique ecology.
- Regarded as the abode of Goddess Nanda Devi, revered in local traditions.
- Due to environmental concerns, access to the inner sanctuary is restricted.
